So many times I’ve heard and said the words “Don’t worry.” We say it because our faith tells us that God will take care of us. But when we are the person “worrying” it is more difficult to let go of. It’s real…it’s right in our face. How can we not worry?
I don’t believe we can let go of the worry that is part of our human selves. But we can take comfort in reading the scriptures. Perhaps the worry won’t go away completely, but it can stem the rising tide that threatens to consume us…that is Satan at work. He wants us to worry and doubt for when we are in turmoil, he slithers in and takes hold, filling us with fear.
Today’s scripture I want to share with you comes from Philippians 4:6-7 (MSG)
Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
