Over the past two months, so much has happened. An unexpected illness in the family and with friends has sent me to my knees in prayer. Always, always, God listens and He responds. He turns bad situations into good blessings and I’m always amazed at the way He answers prayers and provides for the needs of His children.
Last Christmas was the first I experienced without my beloved husband and yes, there was some sadness and grieving involved. God understood. He expected times when grief would need to be released in tears and during those times, Jesus was present to hold me close and bring comfort.
This Christmas I will still feel grief but there are many more wonderful memories being made. I’m very excited about spending Christmas Eve with my family at the candlelight service at church. My youngest grandchildren and their parents are in a Christmas nativity play! And holding a candle and singing hymns and then Happy Birthday to Jesus is going to be awesome!
So, yes, there have been some sad times during this past year, but the blessings so surpass them that my heart is so filled with joy I can’t find the words to tell you the feeling.
My wish for you is that you have the true meaning of Christmas in your heart and that you enjoy every moment you have with the loved ones in your life. Cherish them, make beautiful memories for the future, and give thanks to Jesus.
Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that the peace, joy, love and spirit of Christmas enrich the faith and lives of everyone who reads this prayer. May they find comfort in knowing Jesus and happiness in the gift You provided in Bethlehem in a lowly manger. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
