I’ve chosen James 1:19 as my verse of the week.
“…you must be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.”
This is only part of the scripture verse, but it is the important part. I’ve realized that I only need to memorize the really important part of the verses. The entire scripture reads in NLT “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry,” and then the next verse picks up on anger.
There was a time in my life when I had a bad temper. I suppose that comes from my Scotch Irish genes. It was also a time in my life when God wasn’t first on my priority list! It was only when I truly let go and let God take control that I learned anger was destructive…to me!
I still struggle with remaining still and listening to others before I try to break in with my own thoughts. So James 1:19 is a good verse for me to call to mind in situations where I forget God’s instructions on how to be a woman of God.
