I try to keep my house ready for company just in case. Why? Because you never know when someone might ring the doorbell besides the UPS delivery man. Yesterday very late afternoon I had decided to watch tv and make a card. So I carried out every piece of card making equipment I have and placed it on the chaise end of the sofa next to the recliner where I was sitting with my little table. As I finished with something, I’d place it on the floor to put away. I was deep into creative mode when…duh, duh, duh…the doorbell rang.
It took a few seconds for me to realize it really was MY doorbell. I looked around at the huge mess. Oh, no. Who could it be? It was one of my neighbors, Dave. I could have stepped onto the porch to talk to him, but my southern roots wouldn’t allow that. I opened the door and asked him to come in. Immediately I apologized trying to explain I was making cards. (As if he would understand. LOL!)
After he left, I let myself turn weak with embarrassment. Why? There is no reason I need to have a spotless home. I should worry more about having a spotless heart and mind for God! Many people are like me, worrying about what others think of us. But how often do we worry about what God thinks of us? Do we take his love for granted?
I admit it. I do. And I want to change that!
Lifting my cup of tea and wishing you all a day to ponder the thought: Do I take God’s love for granted?
