Kindness is an easy gift to share. As easy as a smile. I try to remember this when I go about my day. A smile can lift a downtrodden spirit. A smile can touch the heart of a tired mother. A smile can give hope to someone battling a life threatening disease. The beauty of a smile can light the dark corners of a lonely heart.
There are times I drag myself to the grocery store where others will look anywhere but at me. Are we hiding within ourselves because of fear, seeking safety from the world? If so, then how can kindness be shared? Where will we see hope?
Lord, I pray for courage to share kindness in words, actions, and smiles. I want to love others, especially those who feel unlovable. Show me Your children in need. Speak through me. Shine through me. Amen.
